Source Sans Pro was Adobes first open source font, and is freely distributed under the SIL Open Font License. Inspired by the creator of gothic fonts, Morris Fuller Benton, Source Sans Pro features a larger x-height and a more humanist influenced italic form.

Source Sans Pro Creator

Source Sans pro was created by Paul D. Hunt who began his type career at P22 Type Foundry. Paul continued his journey into typefaces at the University of Reading, where he completed his Masters and was awared the distinction of Merit. Upon graduation, Paul joined the Adobe type team where he released their first open source font ever.

Source Sans Pro Font Weights

Source Sans Pro is available in six weights (Regular, ExtraLight, Light, Semibold, Bold, Black) in upright and italic styles. The typeface has wide language support for Latin script, including Western and Eastern European languages, Vietnamese, pinyin Romanization of Chinese, and Navajo.
