Ubuntu is a sans-serif, OpenType-based humanist typeface. It was developed to be the default font of the Ubuntu operating system, initially released on Ubuntu 10.10. The typeface was developed for clarity on desktop and mobile computing screens, with its spacing and kerning optimised for body copy sizes.

Ubuntu Creator

The Ubuntu Font Family is a set of matching fonts funded by Canonical in 2010-2011 for the Ubuntu operating system. It was designed by London based type foundry Dalton Maag, whose designers included Vincent Connare, the creator of the Comic Sans and Trebuchet MS fonts.

Ubuntu Font Weights

The scope of the Ubuntu Font Family includes all the languages used by the various Ubuntu users around the world. The font is fully Unicode compliant and contains Latin A and B extended character sets, Greek polytonic, and Cyrillic extended. The font family includes a total of thirteen fonts, consisting of Regular, Light, Medium, Monospaced, and Condensed versions.
