Aim of the Regulation
The Digital Services Act (DSA) is an EU regulation designed to create a safer, more trustworthy online environment for users
Who does it apply to?
The DSA applies broadly to intermediary services that offer their services in the EU regardless of where they are based.
Key Requirements
General obligations for all intermediary service providers include:
- Providing a point of contact for authorities and recipients of the service.
- Providing clear, accessible terms and conditions and transparency in moderation.
- Publishing transparency reports on a yearly basis regarding content moderation activities
Additional obligations for certain categories of intermediary service providers (such as hosting providers and online platforms) including:
- Enabling easy reporting of illegal content, goods, or services.
- Offering complaint mechanisms when content is removed or restricted.
- Disclosing how recommender systems and algorithms work.
