Little Big Updates: 32 fixes and features for a better workflow

We know teams can work faster and better even with small tweaks. When you’re living and breathing Figma and FigJam, incremental changes can have a real impact. At Figma, we affectionately call these “little big updates": improvements that might seem small, but make all the difference when it comes to your workflow.

In this latest round of changes, we’ve introduced new shortcuts, design features, publishing options, and more. Below, we’re sharing all 32 updates and improvements that help you lean into what you do best.

1. We now support HEIC uploads in Figma and FigJam, so you can easily upload your iPhone photos.

2. Don’t let us slow you down—we’ve made fixes so that text editing is up to 10x faster in Figma and FigJam.

3. Accents make the world go around, so we’re excited to support the macOS accent menu in Figma and FigJam. To activate, just long press the letter you want to accent and select.

4. List bullets will remain consistent, even if you use mixed text styles in Figma and FigJam.

5. Use Home and End keys in Figma and FigJam to quickly travel to the beginning and end of a text area.

6. We have removed interstitials for external links in Figma and FigJam so you can stay in the flow.

7. Have fun with a wider range of design possibilities, now that you can select different colors to fill vector network regions.

8. In the Figma desktop app, ⌘L (Ctrl+L for Windows) will copy links to file as well as selected frames.

9. Sometimes you just want to hide our UI—we get it! We have introduced a way to rename elements using ⌘R (Ctrl+R for Windows) while UI is hidden.

10. Coming soon: pasting retina screenshots in Chrome should now use correct dimensions.

11. You can press ⌘ (Ctrl on Windows) and click to select top-level frames. Previously the only way to select a non-empty top-level frame from the canvas was to click on its name.

12. Insert components (Shift+I) and swap instances using added search functionality to quickly find what you need in your design system.

13. Publishing got a whole lot easier: publish any component just using right-click.

14. When you’re publishing, you can also search through components.

15. Skip the trouble of going into files and scrolling through libraries—published files have a separate, identifiable icon.

16, Get to the heart of the issue by navigating to invalid components from the publishing modal.

17. In the publishing modal, you can also select what components to hide or show in the asset list.

18. It’s nice to know what changes haven’t been published, but it’s even nicer to be able to just publish them on the spot…and now you can.

19. You can always click “Return to instance” when selecting a main component.

20. Link directly to libraries from org subscription settings.

21. Exporting of SVG strokes on parent object now works.

22. Get more out of your FigJam shapes with flexible resizing options.

23. Select any element on FigJam and right-click to copy a direct link to it.

24. Now you can drag FigJam stamps from the wheel.

25. More little but important updates: the FigJam red shape color is less orange and more, well, red.

26. Text highlights on blue backgrounds are now more visible in FigJam.

27. Quick actions or ⌘+/ (Ctrl+/ for Windows) now has option to “Show or hide the FigJam UI.”

28. You can also use the quick actions shortcut (⌘+/ or Ctrl+/ for Windows) to search the option to “Unlock all objects.”

29. Who says there are no shortcuts in life? Hover over the in-line FigJam toolbar to surface additional keyboard shortcuts.

30. Create a new line in connector text just by pressing Return or Enter (before it was Shift+Return/Enter).

31. Objects will continue snapping to grid as you drag.

32. And lastly, a reminder you can add team libraries to your FigJam file, and now we’ve prioritized those libraries in the modal for easy access.
