FAQs

A standup meeting agenda serves to update your whole team on each member’s progress. They’re typically held every day at a set time. During every meeting, each team member will discuss what they completed yesterday, what’s on the docket today, and if they’re experiencing any blockers that may prevent them from completing a task.

Holding standup meetings helps management gain a clear picture of the team’s progress and provides opportunities for brainstorming where team members can provide solutions to remove roadblocks. With FigJam’s standup meeting template, you can keep track of updates and create to-dos to ensure your entire team is up to speed and heading toward the finish line.

An effective daily standup meeting should be short and sweet. While some team members may want to discuss their daily to-dos at length, this can interrupt workflow and decrease productivity.

Begin by addressing the purpose of the meeting, then ask each employee a trio of questions: “What did you accomplish yesterday?”, “What are you working on today?”, and “Is there anything stopping you from completing your tasks?”

Make a note of each answer. Then, if there’s time, encourage your team to identify if there are any opportunities for team members to synchronize tasks or take the load off another employee’s to-do list.

Standup meetings are called that for a reason—before the age of remote work and virtual meetings, these discussions were held standing up. Why? To ensure that they were quick and efficient. As such, you should try to limit each meeting to no more than 30 minutes, depending on the size of your team.

A daily standup should also be held at the same time every day, with the same three questions asked, to provide employees with a reliable routine and the opportunity to prepare any talking points. FigJam’s template provides a structured format for productive meetings.
